We meet in Sanremo, then by car we travel to our first Medieval village, Dolceaqua (about 50 mins). Dolceaqua is Reknown for it's natural beauty and officially recognised as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy with it's Orange Flag award. Wandering through the narrow cobbled streats, we can trace the footsteps of Monet and admire the artwork, bespoke craft and local produce shops.

Then we travel further up the valley to Rochetta, the beauty is truly enchanting, like a fairtale. Infact, in August, the village hosts a festival of theatrical performances known as "Festival delle Fiabe”. We wander along the river and through the quaint streets and wander up to the rockpools where you might paddle. Rochetta also has canyoning excusions, which we can arrange for you. (On a separate day).

Then we drive up into the hills behind Dolceaqua, for stunning views and of course, an opportunity to taste some of the regions best wines, in particular the Rossese di Dolceaqua, a dry red wine unique to this very small area, along with two other reds and three whites. Our favourite is the Rossese for red and Vermentino for white!

After this we travel back along the coast, back through Sanremo and further on, to Bussana Vecchia wich was abandoned in 1887 following an earthquake, as the authorities deemed it unsafe to live in. However, in the late 60s, it was renovated and repopulated by an international community of artists. With craft shops, cafes, and restaurants we can relax and enjoy the views and unique setting before returning to Sanremo.
